Hello, Chef
One tap ends the 5 p.m. stare into the fridge. Tell it how much time you have and who's at the table — it picks tonight's dinner, plans the week around game nights, and builds your grocery list.
Optional — fill in what you like and change it anytime; it's saved on this device. Your first name is how the app says hello, and household size is your usual number — the same as the decider's "how many people" picker, so change it in either place and both update. Individual days don't have to match it: each day in the week planner has its own count, for quiet nights and extra-guest nights alike.
Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics so we can see how many people try the app — no cookies and no personal data. Turn this on and visits from this browser won't be counted.
Nothing saved yet — it fills in as you type.
Answer three quick things and dinner is handled. Don't love the pick? Swap it — no scrolling recipe blogs, no life story before the ingredients.
This is your usual number — tonight's recipe scales to it. House runs hot and cold? In Step 2, every day has its own "at the table" count: set a quiet night to 2, leave a normal night at your usual, or tap + when teammates are staying for dinner — and the grocery list adds up each day at its own size. Feeding a crowd? Pick the warehouse club (Costco) in Step 4 on Premium and buy the scaled-up quantities in bulk.
Tap the chips, type your own below — or do both. You can add as many ingredients as you like.
Example: leftover ham, potatoes, cheese
Just separate each ingredient with a comma — we'll use all of them.
Allergies or intolerances — tap what applies to your table. Gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, egg-free and vegetarian are free for everyone, with a starter set of recipes; Premium unlocks every matching recipe. Tonight's pick, every swap in the week planner, and the grocery list will only use recipes that fit. You can combine them (for example, gluten-free + vegetarian).
Always double-check labels when shopping — brands vary, especially for sauces, mixes, and frozen items. If a combination has no match for a meal type, the app will tell you instead of serving something that doesn't fit.
A carb-load the night before games, light and early on game nights, and one big family dinner on your big-dinner day — and never the same recipe twice in a week. Set your game days and big-dinner day in the panels below, then fine-tune any meal with Swap or Request. And because no two days feed the same crowd, every day card has its own at-the-table count — a quiet night for 2, your usual crew, or extra teammates at the table — and the grocery list scales each day separately.
Game days move with you. Games not on Friday? Mark your real game days in the panel below — any day of the week — and the light dinners and carb-loads follow your marks. Your big family dinner day works the same way: Sunday to start, but you can move it to any day or switch it off.
No repeats inside the week: the planner never deals the same recipe twice in the same week for the same meal type, and the month planner avoids repeats across the whole month wherever the library allows — so every day is a different option.
The checkmark is "we're home that day." Tick exactly which meals you want planned on the days you keep. Unchecked days are skipped completely and don't count toward the grocery list.
Every meal slot gives you both choices: hit Swap for a random different meal, or use Request to pick the exact recipe you want — like tacos on Tuesday. Tap the ★ star on any slot to save that recipe as a favorite.
Head counts are per day, not per week. Each day card has an "At the table" stepper. It starts at your usual household number — tap − on a night when it's just a couple of you, or + when teammates or other guests are eating with you. That day's ingredients scale to that day's number, so the grocery list is the true total across a week where every night feeds a different crowd. Days you set keep their number even if you later change your usual household size; use "Back to usual" on a day (or the reset in the panel below) to make it follow the household number again.
Your plan sticks for the week. Everything here — the meals on each day, swaps, pinned requests, checked and unchecked days, game days, your big-dinner day, and every day's head count (plus the month view built from this week) — is saved on this device for the current Monday–Sunday week. Plan it today, close the app, and it's all still here tomorrow. When the new week starts on Monday, the planner starts fresh.
Games not always on Friday? Mark whichever days yours actually land on — the light dinners and carb-loads move with them. The same marks carry into every month-planner week, and tonight's decider uses them too.
Not everyone's big dinner lands on Sunday — mark whichever day your family actually gathers (or None if you don't do a big one), and the planner puts the big, hearty family dinner on that day instead. Tap the marked day again to clear it. The same day carries into every month-planner week.
Some nights it's just 2, some nights the whole crew, some nights half the team shows up — so each day card below has its own count. Set it right on the day: − for a quiet night, + for every extra mouth. The grocery list adds up each day at its own size, so nothing gets over- or under-bought.
Pick any time you like — 4:00 PM is just the starting point. When it's time, you get today's dinner from your week plan plus a little chef pep talk.
Honest limits: the reminder fires while Dinner, Decided is open — it works best with the app added to your home screen, so it's one tap away at reminder time. Turn it on and your browser will ask for notification permission: if notifications are allowed, one lands on your device; if they're blocked or not supported here, the reminder pops up inside the app instead.
Yes — you can request exactly what you want. Want tacos on Tuesday? Pick the day, the meal, and the recipe below and it pins right there — or use the Request dropdown right on any meal slot in the cards below. Every slot also keeps its Swap button for when you don't have a specific craving: Swap deals you a random different meal instead. Requested meals are pinned against automatic changes (changing your diet filters won't replace them) and always count toward the grocery list, even if they sit outside your filters. Swapping a pinned slot yourself clears its pin.
Example: Day = Tuesday, Meal = Dinner, Recipe = Ground Beef Tacos + Spanish Rice → Tuesday dinner is tacos. Tap × on a pinned meal to unpin it. Every slot in the week cards — and every meal slot in the month planner below — has the same pair of options: Swap (random) and Request (pick the exact meal).
Lay out the next four weeks in one go so you stop re-deciding every Sunday. Every day keeps the same checkmark — uncheck any day you're not home, on a weekday or a weekend, and it drops out of that week's list. Every meal slot here has both options too: Swap deals a random different meal, and the Request dropdown pins a specific one for that week (tacos on a Tuesday in Week 3, for example) — requested meals are pinned and included in that week's list. The grocery lists stay separate per week: download Week 1's list when you order for Week 1, Week 2's when you order for Week 2, and so on — so you're never buying Week 4's fresh food three weeks early.
Month lists use the same per-day head counts and diet filters — every day here has its own at-the-table stepper too, so a quiet night and a full-house night in Week 3 each scale correctly. Each download is its own file, named for the dates that week covers — like Ingredients for week of November 15-22.txt — with that week's menu and its per-day counts at the top.
Every ingredient from tonight's pick and the single week in Step 2, in one list. For the month view above, use each week's own download instead — those lists are kept separate on purpose. On Free the list is download-only and stores are locked. Premium unlocks picking your store — everyday stores from coast to coast, including Ralphs, Vons, Albertsons & Fred Meyer out West, plus the warehouse club Costco for buying in bulk when you're feeding a larger party — and adds a button on every item that opens it in that store's own search, ready to add to your cart.
Tap the ★ star on any recipe — in tonight's pick, any week or month slot — to save it here. Favorites are saved on this device, so they're still here next time you open the app. Starred recipes are also weighted to come up more often in the decider and in Swap picks (when they fit your filters and aren't already in that week), so the meals your family loves show up more — without ever repeating inside the same week.
Start free and get hooked on never staring into the fridge again. Premium unlocks the full planner for $4.99 a month — tap Upgrade and secure checkout opens with Stripe in a new tab. When you're done you'll land right back here with Premium switched on.
You're on the Free plan. Anything marked Premium will show you an upgrade prompt instead of switching on.
